We were recently approached by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Children’s Art Project (CAP) to spread the word about their mission and children’s artwork gifts. The beautiful artwork is created by pediatric cancer patients and placed on various forms of merchandise including cards, jewelry, accessories and more. The sales from these products help enhance the lives of cancer patients, including funding the very art classes that inspire the fundraising goods!
This humble project that began in 1973 has since raised over 30 million dollars to fund programs at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, located in central Houston, that touch the lives of over 26,000 pediatric patients and families. The volunteer work each year for CAP is equivalent to over 200 full-time employees! The products above as well as similar products can be purchased at over 2,000 stores in Texas, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Florida and a few locations in Arkansas.
You can also purchase gifts, like those shown above, through their website. Your purchase helps fund education programs that allow children to continue their academic studies at the hospital, emotional support, camps and scholarships. The web store is full of gifts for any occasion and boasts a custom print shop, donation and volunteer info. as well as e-cards.
In 2011, U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” survey ranked MD Anderson as the top hospital in the nation for cancer care. It has achieved the top ranking eight times in the past 10 years and has ranked as one of the top two hospitals for cancer care since the magazine began its annual survey in 1990.

As a cancer survivor who was inpatient at MD Anderson in Houston, I have a unique appreciation for these children and their artwork. While receiving chemo for acute myloid leukemia, I spent many hours in the gift shops admiring the kids work. I also enjoy purchasing the blank cards and Christmas cards every year. Enjoying 8+ years of remission. Keep up the great volunteer work youvall do.
