St. Patrick’s Day is less than a week away so we have put together a super easy DIY Confetti Shamrock T-shirt that will keep you from getting pinched!
Here’s what you will need:
T-shirt
Fabric Paint (we prefer Martha Stewart)
Wood or Foam Block
Assorted Shamrock Foam Stickers (Michaels)
Cardboard Scrap (optional)
This is a great DIY to do with your kids! Simply wash and dry your t-shirt(s) so you will have a clean, non-wrinkled surface. Then place a piece of scrap cardboard in between the two layers of the shirt. (This step is optional since the Martha Stewart paint doesn’t seep through but if you are doing this project with kids or paint heavily, you might want the added protection!)
Remove the sticky backs from the shamrock stickers and place on the wood or foam block. We recommend layering the shamrocks in a set of three (see pic below) to add height to your stamp and to give strength to the stem part of the shamrock. The stickers will stick to themselves so no glue is needed to keep your stamp together. We used glitter foam shamrock stickers and the glitter did not effect the printing. To get the best controlled print, use a watercolor paint brush to paint the surface of the shamrock stickers with your fabric paint. We used white paint on a green shirt but you could also use a white shirt with green or gold paint.
Stamp the shamrocks directly onto your shirt in a random, confetti pattern. After every stamp, place another layer of paint on the stamp so your prints are completely visible and similar in opacity. Have fun creating your own designs and patterns! Allow your shirt to dry and follow any fabric paint instructions as far as ironing, etc.
