Operation Smile Birthday Party: Blake Turns 7 at Boomers!

These days, it’s hard not to spoil your kids with all of the material temptations out there. Birthday parties are no exception. The cost of entertainment, cake and party supplies can really rack up quite the bill. This year, in the spirit of teaching my kids how to give back, we decided to have a charity inspired birthday party for my son Blake who turns 7 today!

After researching children’s charities, we chose Operation Smile. We loved how with only $240, a child in need will receive a much needed facial deformity surgery no matter where they live around the globe. That number seemed attainable and Operation Smile allows your child to create their own “One Smile” webpage so they can see their progress and easily share their request with friends and family.

Now that we had a charity picked out, we chose to have the party at a local fun spot, Boomers! The cost per child is reasonable and all of the entertainment and food was provided, plus we had our party on a Friday to receive a free party upgrade! Just add grocery store cupcakes and personalized Mabel’s Labels Loot Bag Combos for favors and you are all set! We also created our own Operation Smile donation signs and cupcake toppers based on the design of the party space at Boomers!

Blake was thrilled that he met his goal for Operation Smile and didn’t even miss the extra gifts from friends he would normally receive. Does your family have a cause that they support? Involve your kids in your passion for giving back!
